Starting out as an online T-shirt designer in 2007, Printmaker David Cumming swapped digital files for linoleum and ink in 2015. The unpredictable process of cutting, inking and pressing is an aspect of print which Cumming most enjoys as often there are variations from one print to the next.

Shortly after in 2016 he was invited to join the Falkirk Creative Collective, a multidiscipline gang of artists promoting the fine arts in Central Scotland. Through their exhibitions, Cumming explored Falkirk and Glasgow’s architectural heritage which lead to an opportunity to exhibit work at The Park Gallery in Falkirk’s Callander House.

An major aspect of his work has been of reuse. Cumming has been pulling prints from surplus commercial flooring material and on found paper, achieving prints that have been confused for paintings, given the irregular textures burnished by hand using his trusted, smoothed down wooden spoon.
